The current balance is shown in the logged-in credits screen.
The same charges apply in the dashboard, the API, and MCP, per completed action:
Short script (9:16): 2 credits.
Long-video script (16:9): 3 credits.
Each long-video scene image: 1 credit. Advanced image models may add 3 credits per scene (total 4).
Short scene: 7 credits for the image. If the scene is animated, 6 credits are added. Advanced image models may add 3 credits. The Short scene ceiling is 16 credits.
Project narration (one generation for the whole video): 5 credits.
Rendering and downloading the MP4 does not use extra credits. Regenerating a step bills that step again.
Volume depends on scene count and regenerations. The figures below use the monthly cycle and one complete video (script + visuals + one narration), with no steps re-run.
As a reference, a Short of about 40 seconds with 8 scenes uses 63 credits in the typical case, or 135 credits when every scene is animated and uses an advanced image model. A long video of about 5 minutes with 20 images uses 28 credits in the typical case, or 88 credits with an advanced image model.
On the monthly cycle: Starter (170 credits) — about 2 typical Shorts or 6 typical long videos; at maximum cost, about 1 and 1 respectively. Creator (510 credits) — about 8 Shorts or 18 long videos; at maximum cost, 3 and 5. Darkly (3,400 credits) — about 53 Shorts or 121 long videos; at maximum cost, 25 and 38. Regenerating a scene or the narration is billed again.
Credits are granted each billing cycle. Unused credits may expire at the end of the plan period, as stated in the Terms of Use and on the credits screen. If you cancel, the remaining balance stays usable until the end of the period already paid; there is no further charge and no new grant after cancellation.
Vertical Shorts (9:16) run from 30 to 60 seconds, with animation per scene, and are intended mainly for reach. Horizontal long videos (16:9) run from 1 to 10 minutes, with a still per scene plus narration, and are intended mainly for watch time and monetization. The default Short length is 40 seconds; the maximum is 60.
60 seconds. Available lengths are 30, 40, 50, and 60 seconds. References to 40 seconds describe the default Short length, not the maximum.
10 minutes (600 seconds). You can set from 1 to 10 minutes, in 30-second steps. Presets are 3, 5, 8, and 10 minutes.
Default export is Full HD 1080p: 1080×1920 for vertical 9:16 and 1920×1080 for horizontal 16:9. A faster 720p export is also available. The delivered file is MP4.
Yes, with these conditions. In the automatic flow, scenes are generated on the platform from the script. In the editor, you can import JPEG, PNG, or WebP images — and also video or audio — produced elsewhere and place them on the timeline as scene media. For a recurring character, Darkly Model accepts reference photos you upload (full body, back, face, and back of the head). You are not required to generate every image inside the product.
Yes. Studio export delivers an MP4 with platform-generated narration aligned to the scenes, and with captions when that step was completed in the project. You do not need an external editor to combine image, audio, and captions. Timing, caption text, or cuts can be adjusted in the built-in editor before export.
Yes. Narration is generated in the studio, with no external tool required. There are 52 ready-made voices in the catalog, all able to narrate in Brazilian Portuguese; English and Spanish are also available. You choose the voice and tone before generating. You can clone a voice in Voice Studio, subject to account rules.
No. The default flow is topic, script, images or clips, narration, and MP4 export. The built-in editor is optional, for timing, captions, or media adjustments before download.
Yes. The REST API and MCP debit the same subscription balance, using the same cost table as the dashboard (script, per-scene images, narration, and other generations). There is no extra credit surcharge for using the API or MCP. Balance, profile, and project lookups do not consume credits.
Limits apply per API key. You may send up to 300 read requests per minute and up to 30 write (POST) requests per minute. Retention-video generations have a separate cap of 20 requests per minute on the same key. Above those limits, the response is HTTP 429. Remote MCP uses the same authentication and the same caps as the key.
